Description
The 'Christmas with Vinsanto' tin biscuit jar is a gift that combines the Tuscan tradition of Cantucci with Vinsanto with the elegance of the Tin Biscuit Jar created for the first time in 2024 by talented Florentine illustrators Simone Massoni and Ilaria Falorsi.
The great Classic of the Tuscan tradition: the Prato Biscuit (also called 'Cantuccio' or 'Cantuccino' with Almonds), also in its variant with dark chocolate is accompanied by the equally traditional Vinsanto Santa Cristina.
It contains a 250 g pack of Prato Biscuits, a 250 g pack of Biscuits with dark chocolate, a 375 ml bottle of Vinsanto Santa Cristina.
The Christmas Tin Biscuit Jar captures the enchantment of Christmas Eve, when the silent snow envelops everything in a quiet embrace, creating a magical and emotional atmosphere that anticipates the party. It is designed to be reused as a container for objects, perhaps Christmas ones, given the theme illustrated on the outside; for example, you can store tree baubles, party game cards and the most precious decorations.
The Prato Biscuits are prepared with flour, sugar, free-range eggs, almonds and pine nuts, they do not contain preservatives, nor animal fats, nor vegetable fats.
The Biscotti con Cioccolato fondente are made with the same dough as the Biscotti di Prato (flour, sugar, free-range eggs), and instead of almonds and pine nuts, fine drops of dark chocolate (85% Cocoa) are added.
The Vinsanto Santa Cristina Antinori has an intense yellow color, with hints of toasted hazelnut, honey and apricot on the nose.
Full-bodied on the palate, with notes of honey and dried fruit, it is a long and soft wine with an intense finish of chestnut flour and hay. -
History
The Christmas Tin Biscuit Jar, created in 2024 for the Antonio Mattei Biscuit Factory, is the result of the talent of illustrators Simone Massoni and Ilaria Falorsi. This is the first tin biscuit jar dedicated to Christmas, designed not only to house traditional biscuits, but also other matching products. Furthermore, it is designed to be reused in homes as a container for precious objects.
Since 1858, Biscotti di Prato have been baked daily and packaged by hand one by one, in the classic Blu Mattei bag.
Made with flour, sugar, free-range eggs, almonds and pine nuts, they do not contain preservatives, animal fats or vegetable fats.
The Dark Chocolate Biscuits leave our oven for the first time in 2013; these too are packaged by hand one by one, originally in the red bag. Since 2019, the Dark Chocolate version has been packaged in the Blu Mattei bag with a Red label.
In June 2019, in fact, Biscottificio Mattei obtained the registration for the Single Color trademark of its Blue bags; an important and rare recognition that definitively attributes to this historic packaging its uniqueness and belonging to the ancient Biscottificio.
Now all our Biscuits are packaged with the Blu Mattei package, with elements of different colors that distinguish the different flavor.
The Tuscan tradition of consuming Biscotti di Prato with the typical local fortified wine (Vinsanto) at the end of a meal is lost in the past among urban legends and friendly citizen paternalism.
We like to think that it is more than anything a simple need for conservation and passion for local products.
Dipping the biscuits in Vinsanto (... or wine) allowed you to eat the beloved Biscotti even if they were not baked that same day; from this custom, common in Tuscan homes, a tradition was born that is now known throughout the world and offered on the tables of the best restaurants.
The pairing of Antonio Mattei biscuits with Antinori wines also has a long history. The relationship between the two companies has in fact been documented since the 1940s. -
